Highlights include lobster spaghetti, made from scratch on a summer evening in the company of my close friend, Stephen; pizza with radish and pickled onions at Roberta's, which will always have a place in my heart; and smoked salmon with cucumber and pink peppercorns, a lunchtime staple at my brother's.
Just thought I'd share, as I've had food on the brain this weekend (I've got an article about dining out in New York due Monday). Have you had any memorable meals lately?
Have a wonderful start to the week!
All of this food looks so yummy. I had some pretty good chicken fingers on Friday night. haha They had gourmet dippin' sauces. Om nom nom!
ReplyDeleteyum.
ReplyDeleteMy God, this is making me so hungry! This weekend was a good food weekend for me. We had brunch at Roberta's (I had the Bee Sting without chilies) and the best fried chicken with mac n cheese at Sugar Freak in Astoria. Drool.
ReplyDeletesome of your photos remind me of spring! i can't wait to eat outdoors again!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE these photos. I take a lot of pictures of the things I eat, too. Hence... why I appreciate these photos. :)

ReplyDeleteYou should make them into magnets for your fridge. I actually posted about this today bc I've been thinking about making magnets with my instagrams. you can do it here: http://stickygram.com/ I haven't tried it yet but I'm planning on it.

beautiful images! you're so lucky you can have roberta's whenever you want..... it's sooooo good!
ReplyDeleteGlad to know I'm not the only one! It just seems like such a shame to let beautiful food go undocumented. I've been DYING to try Roberta's. I hear it is excellent. Maybe once NYC gets back to gorgeous bike riding weather...
ReplyDeleteApril, chicken fingers sound delicious! I had a fried chicken biscuit Friday night - it was divine.
ReplyDeleteVanessa, I haven't tried the Bee Sting yet but I've always been curious - I'm so jealous you were at Roberta's this weekend!
Lisa, you're so welcome. Putting this post together made me hungry!
Chessa, those sound great! Definitely going to check it out - thank you!
Melissa, you MUST try it! You'll love it, I promise.
Such pretty food photos! I love food photos like this and please share these more! I really love you put the photo of you eating something too :) xo akiko

Oh Robertas. Just the sound of the name makes my stomach growl. I could eat there every single night!!! Love your photos! xoxo
ReplyDeleteThanks, guys!
ReplyDeleteLove these pics, and can't wait to read your article!
ReplyDeleteA recent standout was Pulqueria...my friend and I had the pumpkin-seed dip and chips, esquites, these little ricotta-filled mini masa cakes, and hibiscus enchiladas. Then we had churros for dessert - they came with both chocolate and caramel dipping sauces! I love how it's down a random stairwell in the Bloody Angle in Chinatown. And for all the buzz that it's so scene-y, they were actually really nice - the bartender heard my friend wish me a happy birthday so he tipped off our server and the churros arrived with a birthday candle. Cute!
Another vote for Roberta's (waves to Vanessa!). Melissa, you have to go! We split the Cheeses Christ and the Margherita pizzas. Have never had a bad meal there.
I agree! I always love everything at Roberta's. It used to be my neighborhood restaurant - I miss it! Oh, and that meal at Pulqueria sounds amazing. Hibiscus enchiladas? Holy smokes.
