Though I've never been much of a sports fan, the Olympics get me every time - stumbling across these photos of athletes in the 20s and 30s (and earlier!) made me so happy.

Tonight, I'll be meeting friends to watch the opening ceremonies - I've been looking forward to it all week. Will you be watching, too? Whatever your plans, have a wonderful weekend!

Sad, how empty the banks are on the first picture.
ReplyDeleteI become a huge sports fan once the Olympics roll around. Hey, the summer ones only come every four years - I need to go all out. ^^
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are so cool - I like the vintage black and white. And I'm so excited to watch the Opening Ceremonies tonight!

Like you, I'm not much of a sports fan, but the opening ceremony this evening actually gave me goosebumps (unfortunately, I was only able to watch the beginning). I love the photos you posted - great choices, as always. Wishing you a wonderful weekend, Shoko!
ReplyDeleteI missed the first hour and a half because it was 7am in Sydney and I was still in bed! Stumbled downstairs with the boys at 8.30am and caught the last hour. Thought the cauldron was amazing. Was really interesting explaining to Angus what the Olympics were about and why they were running around with the flame. Funny to think that at the last Olympics, none of the three boys were around!
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend, Shoko.

These are great photos. Why is it that black and whites always bring so much drama to the situation? Great collection Shoko!
ReplyDeleteI love the black and white photos, my how fast everything changes! With all of the technology at the opening ceremonies this time around, it's even amazing how different the '92 Olympics were compared to this day and age.
ReplyDeleteBerit, I thought the same thing!
ReplyDeleteDeirdre, "olden" is a great one, isn't it?
Ronnie, I loved the cauldron, too. And you're lucky you caught the last hour, because that was definitely the best part - you didn't miss much earlier :)
your blog is amazing! just scrolled through all pages! :)
ReplyDeleteThat last photo is the best. What a moment! It's happiness, relief, athleticism, invigoration and hard work. I love candid shots.
ReplyDeleteI could care less about sports any other time, but once the Olympics roll around, I always get so hooked! I think I watched more TV this weekend than I have this whole year, combined! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm the same. the Olympics get me every time and love old Olympics pictures! The girls gymnastic yesterday gave me a goose bumps! akiko
