In Friend-Love.

After professing my love for these amazing girls earlier in the week, quite a few people emailed me a link to a comic by Yumi Sakugawa called "I Think I Am In Friend-Love With You." It spans six pages in its entirety; I've pasted the first three below.

I'd say Yumi's captured friend-love - a very, very real thing - pretty darn accurately. Click here to see the rest, and have a wonderful weekend! (Oh, and the next time you hear from me I'll be in LA - if any of you West Coasters have any foodie recommendations for me while I'm there, I'd love to know!)

  7. So cute, makes me smile! Well, in LA you should go to Chego on the westside and Elf on the east side.

  8. I immediately forwarded this to all my friend-loves...just a perfect capture of those emotions :)

I'm in Long Beach, but my fav LA place lately has been Colori Kitchen. Fantastic Italian food (their carbonara is insane) and it's just a super chill, no frills sitaution. Oh, and no corkage! So you can bring whatever vino you want!

  9. I can't help but break out into all smiles whenever I read this comic strip! Last time I was in LA, I went to Milo and Olive and had an insanely delicious garlic knot (I'm talking about a wood-fired sachet of dough from which clove after clove of garlic tumbled out into a pool of olive oil. Heaven.) and Robata-Jinya, where I had really good ramen and they made silken tofu right at the table! Not food related, but as a Patti Smith fan, you will definitely appreciate the Robert Mapplethorpe exhibit at LACMA. Have a wonderful wonderful time at home!
