I still remember carrying a baby blanket with me to preschool, a mangled shred of which now hangs in my dad's office, as an art piece. There's something strikingly beautiful about objects that have been loved with so much intensity.
See more of MuchLoved at Mark Nixon's website, here. A big thank you to Laughing Squid for the introduction.
I love this idea! And I love that your baby blanket is now a piece of art. So precious and sweet!
ReplyDeleteI have my own version of one of these that I still sleep with. (And I'm 22.) So comforting in times of doubt, sickness, or after scary nightmares.
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I never had a stuffed animal or blanket like this, but my brother had a puppy that he absolutely mangled; I think it even ended up being in two pieces when all was said and done. That thing was so gross, but he loved it so much, and because of that, I think we all did. This is such a great series!
ReplyDeleteThese are touching! I love how loved these are!
ReplyDeletethe sweetest...! love that your dad hung it as art!! i had a white and pistachio green baby blanket that i couldn't sleep without...
ReplyDeleteWow .. that giraffe has seen better days~ LoL .. my 2yr old son has a lamb which he's had since bith that he bites only the left foot .. and well, as you can imagine, it's pretty disgusting now! LoL
ReplyDeleteI can feel the love just looking at these! What a beautiful idea.
ReplyDeleteI still have my baby blanket, although I don't sleep with it anymore. I do still sleep with a stuffed bear, though.
ReplyDeletestill have a doll that was given to me when i was born! she's a total work of art.
ReplyDeletei wish i still had my Wolfie. I had a giant stuffed wolf when i was three (giant b/c he was as big as i was, at the time). I love him so much that I chewed a hole in his big rubber nose. He eventually went swimming in the pool (unintentionally) and had to be thrown out. loved that guy... <3
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing your stories!
what a lovely idea! couldn't stop checking each one of them. good find!
ReplyDeleteI LOVED reading these comments! So many great stories :)
ReplyDeleteOh I love this! I wish I kept my toys from when I was a kid. I did keep Frankie's first toy though even though she chewed it to bits.
ReplyDeleteTrishie, there should definitely be a series about pet toys, too!
ReplyDeleteWe still have Rick's childhood friends 'Monkey' and 'Teddy' from when he was one year old. They definitely look well-loved but I love them all the more for that, and am stoked that our boys get to play with them now!
ReplyDeleteRonnie xo
Wow, I love this!!! I still have my blankie and a cute little stuffed puppy tucked safely away in my closet. Admittedly, I slept with them both until I got a real puppy three years ago and I was afraid she'd confuse my stuffed animals for her own and chew them to bits :)
ReplyDeleteaww! this totally reminds me of that photography book featuring much-loved dog toys (funnily enough the deterioration is pretty similar to the kids' toys :)
