Stuff Being Thrown At My Head.

Editor Kaija Straumanis is the woman behind the aptly-titled portrait series Stuff Being Thrown At My Head (so far, "stuff" has included a boot, a dodgeball, Easter eggs, and a pint of strawberries). Kaija says that the photographs, in part, depict the experience of having a eureka moment. But as someone who falls regularly, and walks into poles on the sidewalk, and just today shattered a lamp at a restaurant, it's the total, unabashed awkwardness of these shots that really speaks to me. (To read more about how Kaija orchestrates her images, click here.)

Happy Wednesday!

  2. My initial reaction to this was, "ouch!", and then I couldn't stop laughing.

  3. This just made me for real laugh out loud. This was the perfect thing to look at first thing in the morning (I'm a little embarrassed admitting that 9am is my "first thing in the morning").

  4. Oh my gosh, these are hilarious. I'm sure some headaches have been the results of these photos, though!

  6. Oh jeeze, I don't know how she can sit there waiting for the thing to be thrown at her head! For some unknown reason I have a phobia about being hit in the head by some random thing, and now I bet I'll dream about such a scenario tonight.

ps. I have to admit laughing at your expense, envisioning you bumping into a pole on the sidewalk and breaking a lamp in a restaurant!

  7. and here I was thinking stuff was really being thrown at her head! Not that it doesn't make the photos any less worthy, actually makes me appreciate her more and the effort she goes to!

  8. Loulou, I set my bag down right on the power cord- it ripped out of the wall, and the lamp came crashing down! There was a spark and everything! Not my shining moment.

  9. I was a bit disappointed that the things aren't really thrown at her (but I guess you can do anything with photoshop these days). :)
